The Japanese Embassy in Dhaka on Monday beseeched the local media as well as all others to refrain from taking photographs or videos of Japanese personnel visiting Rangpur on assignments following the killing of Japanese citizen Konio Hoshi, and especially to refrain from broadcasting/publishing them.
“Due to a serious security risk from identifying the faces, etc. of our Embassy officials and other Japanese officials visiting Rangpur on mission, please refrain from video camera shooting or taking photo of these Japanese personnel,” the Embassy said in a media note.
It also suggested to the media not to transgress the boundaries marked out by the police that prohibits anyone other than law enforcers and officials from entering the investigation site, in order to avoid hampering a smooth investigation by the law enforcers.
“Giving due consideration to the requests of the bereaved family, please refrain from using the victim’s photo, particularly those related to the killing,” it added.
