Turkey expresses sorrow at Mir Quasem Ali’s execution

04 September 2016,Sunday, 23:35

Turkey today has expressed its sorrow at the execution of Jamaat-e-Islami central leader Mir Quasem Ali.

“We’ve learned with sorrow that the death sentence issued by the International Crimes Tribunal in Bangladesh against Mir Quasem Ali has been executed in Bangladesh,” Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

It stressed once again that the wounds of the past cannot be healed with these methods.

Turkey hoped that “this wrong practice” will not lead to separation among the brotherly people of Bangladesh.

However, there is no official reaction from Dhaka yet over the statement.

Earlier, Turkey had also condemned the execution of Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami and recalled its ambassador to Bangladesh.
