20 killed in Chittagong, Rangamati, Bandarban landslides

At least 20 people were killed in separate incidents of landslides caused by heavy rainfall in Chittagong, Rangamati and Bandarban districts early Tuesday.

Around 20 sustained injuries in the incidents.

In Chittagong, four people were killed in Chandanaish area of the city.

In Rangamati the incident left 10 people dead while six in Bandarban.

Of the six, four deceased were identified as Shuvo Barua, 8, Mithu Barua, 6 and Lota Barua, 5--children of Lal Mohon Barua, residents of Lebujhiripara, and Robi Tripura, 18, a college student and resident of Kalaghata area of Sadar upazila.

Two members of a family, Kamrunnahar, and her daughter Sufia, 20, remained missing.

Fire Service sources said that the incidents occurred early in the morning when a large chunk of mud fell on their house while they were asleep.
