09 October 2017,Monday, 22:01

Khadiza, sister of slain neo-JMB leader Marzan, surrendered to police along with her three children during an anti-militant drive at a ‘militant hideout’ in Ghop Central Road area in the district town on Monday, UNB reports.

Anisur Rahman, superintendent of Jessore Police, said Khadiza surrendered around 3:15 pm after police asked her to surrender during the drive.

But it could not be known immediately where they were taken after surrender.

Besides, police are conducting a search operation in the hideout.

Earlier, Khadiza’s parents were brought here from Pabna district and they were taken to the house which was cordoned off since early Monday.

Tipped off that the militants are staying in the four-storey building, a team of police cordoned off a house in the area around 2:00 am.

Residents of seven flats of the building were evacuated and police asked Khadiza, sister of slain neo-JMB leader Marzan, who was staying on the 1st floor of the building, to surrender.

On January 6, neo-JMB leader Nurul Islam Marzan, also a mastermind of the Gulshan attack, was killed in a 'shootout' with the police in Dhaka.

Meanwhile, a team of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) from Dhaka reached the spot around 10:14 am.

About 100 policemen were also seen staying there since the morning. An ambulance was also found parked there.

Locals said the building owned by Haider Ali, a teacher of Jessore Zila School, has two flats on each floor.
