Distant cautionary signal 1 at maritime ports

The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal 1.

The depression over the southeast bay and adjoining area moved slightly northwestwards over the same area and was centred at 6pm on Wednesday about 1525 kms south-southwest of Chittagong port, 1445 kms south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 1505 kms south-southwest of Mongla port and 1465 kms South-southwest of Payra port.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction, said a special bulletin of the Met office.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the north bay and deep sea have been advised to proceed with caution.

They have also been advised not to venture into the deep sea.
