BNP calls repeated question paper leaks ‘shameful’

18 December 2017,Monday, 17:10

Voicing deep concern over the leakage of a question paper of class two in Barguna, BNP on Monday said it is a ‘shameful’ incident for the entire nation.

“The current government couldn’t give the nation anything, except scandals. The latest scandal is the leak of a question of class two which hit the headlines at the international level. It’s very shameful for the entire nation,” said BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

He came up with the comments while speaking at a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, reports UNB.

The annual mathematics examinations for class 2 in government and non-government schools in Betagi upazila of Barguna have been suspended over the question paper leak.

When the upazila primary education authorities came to know about the leak through social media on Saturday night, they immediately suspended the test in 140 government and non-government schools where students were scheduled to sit for the exam on Sunday.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Sunday alleged that some dishonest teachers were responsible for the incident.

Reacting to Nahid’s comment, Rizvi said Chhatra League leaders are involved in the question paper leakage of SSC and HSC, JSC, PSC, medical college and university admission tests in addition to recruitment tests.

He questioned whether the Prime Minister and her cabinet members do not get ‘ashamed’ of repeated question paper leaks as they do not take effective steps to check that.

Rizvi said law enforcers arrested some leaders and activists of Chhatra League in this connection at different parts of the country. “But they’re shifting their blame onto others at the behest of the Prime Minister and the Education Minister.”

Turning to the Rangpur polls issue, he said the threats and obstructions by the ruling party men are growing as the election is getting closer.

The BNP leader alleged that the ruling party men are visiting the houses of BNP leaders and activists and intimidating them so that they do not go to the polling stations to cast their votes.

Rizvi also came down hard on the Prime Minister for what he said making ‘indecent’ remarks about BNP founder Ziaur Rahman and his family members, alleging that Sheikh Hasina’s main task is to indulge in backbiting as she has nothing else to deliver for the country.
