Batting first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka scored 221 for all in 50 overs spurred by Upul Tharanga’s top-scoring 56 off 99 balls, including five boundaries.

The Tigers will have to chase down the target without their all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan as he was taken to hospital with finger injury which he suffered during fielding when Sri Lankans were on 175/5 in 41.1 overs.

Shakib was taken to Apollo Hospitals Dhaka for a scam on his finger and he needed stitches which ruled him out of today’s match, said Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) physician Debashish Chowdhury.

Mustafizur delivered the 1st ball of innings 42nd over to skipper Dinesh Chandimal, who hammered it angling across to off stump, Shakib sprinted in from extra-cover area before throwing himself forward to pick up and scoop to the bowler's end, but landed awkwardly to hurt him in some way.

Cutter master Mustafizur Rahman bowled out Upul Tharanga on Lankans 158/4 in 35.3 overs to become the 1st Bangladesh bowler to get fastest 50 wickets in ODI cricket which is joint 13th in the world record along five others. Mustafizur got two wickets for economic 29 runs in 10 overs.

Another pace bowler Rubel Hossain was the most successful wicket-taker in the innings, grabbing four wickets --skipper Dinesh Chandimal (45 off 74b; 1x6), Asela Gunaratne (6), Akila Dananjaya (17 off 16b; 1x4; 1x6) and Shehan Madushanka (7) –conceding 46 runs in 10 overs.

Earlier, Mohammad Saifuddin got another crucial wicket -- Niroshan Dickwella (42 off 57b; 4x4) -- when the Sri Lankans were recovering their top-order collapse with the 3rd pair stand of 71 off 17.5 overs.

Dickwella came to the crease after the dismissal of Kusal Mendis on 42/2 in the 6th over and paired with Upul Tharanga in the 3rd wicket before being caught by Sabbir Rahman on 113/3 in 23.5 overs. Saifuddin got Dickwella in his 5th ball of 2nd over.

Young all-rounder m Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Tigers’ skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza shook the Sri Lankans top order batting line sharing one wicket each mesmerising the audience in a bright sunny day at the Tigers happy hunting ground in Mirpur.

Miraz made the first breakthrough for the Tigers taking opener Danushka Gunathilaka (6) when Sri Lankans were on 8 in 2.5 overs. Miraz got Gunathilaka who was caught by Bangladesh’s dashing opener Tamim Iqbal in his 5th ball of the 2nd over.

Mashrafe got Kusal Mendis caught by Mamudullah Riadh in his 3rd ball of the 3rd over.
