Ctg Test: Tigers trail by 13 runs with 7 wkts

Bangladesh moved forward to save the first Test of the two-match series against Sri Lanka scoring 187 for 3 in 55 overs in the 2nd innings at lunch on the 5th and final day at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Sunday, featuring an unbeaten 106 runs in the 4th wicket stand, UNB reports.

With 119 runs deficit to avoid innings defeat scoring 83 for 3 in 26.5 overs at stumps on Day 4, the Tigers successfully spent first session of the final day without losing any wicket adding an unbeaten 106 runs in the session to trail by 13 runs with seven wickets in hand at lunch.

Mominul Haque, who hammered 176 runs in the first innings, was on batting with 18 runs, completed his 13th half century half in the day’s first session scoring unconquered 70 runs off 115 balls featuring three fours and one six while Liton Das gave him a good support contributing not out 47 runs off 89 balls hitting five boundaries.

Replying to Sri Lanka mammoth total 713 runs, the Tigers having 513 in the 1st innings, opened the 2nd innings and unfortunately lost three quick vital wickets of Imrul Kayes (19 off 48b; 1x4), Tamim Iqbal (41 off 62b; 6x4) and Mushfiqur Rahim (2 off 20b) in the 3rd session when scorecard showing (52/1 in 15 overs, 76/2 in 21.4 overs and 81/3 in 26.5 overs) for 81 for 3 in 26.5 overs..

Lakshan Sandakan, Dilruwan Perera and Rangana Herath shared three wickets for three, 20 and 22 runs respectively on Saturday.

Sri Lanka declared their 1st innings scoring 713 for 9 in 199.3 overs in the 3rd session on the 4th day with a 200-run lead against hosts Bangladesh in the 1st Test of the two-match series in Chittagong on Saturday after resuming the 4th day with their overnight score of 504/3 in 138 overs.
