12 March 2018,Monday, 23:55

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has strongly protested and condemned the arrest of its 11 leaders and activists including party’s acting ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman from an in-house meeting in Rajshahi.

“The government has been plotting deep conspiracy to wipe out the leadership of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and as a part of that conspiracy police have arrested 11 Jamaat leaders and activists including party’s Acting Ameer and ex-lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman from an in-house meeting in Rajshahi. The Jamaat leaders have become the worst victim of government’s political vengeance," party's nayeb-e-ameer Maulana Shamsul Islam and acting secretary general Maulana ATM Masum said in a joint statement.

They said Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a legitimate political party. The government has violated country’s law and the constitution by arresting the Jamaat leaders from an in-house organizational program.

They demanded immediate release of all detained leaders including party’s acting ameer and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman.

Besides, they also declared nationwide peaceful demonstration on Tuesday protesting the arrest of 11 persons.
