BNP demands immediate better treatment for Khaleda

14 May 2018,Monday, 22:40

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday night voiced deep concern over their chairperson Khaleda Zia’s ‘deteriorated’ health condition in jail, reports UNB.

Speaking at a press conference, he demanded the government immediately take steps for better treatment of the BNP chief.

The press conference was held at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office after some of Khaleda’s relatives met her in jail.

“We’ve come to know from madam’s (Khaleda’s) family members that her health condition has seriously deteriorated. She is so sick that she can’t move her left hand. We’re deeply worried over her falling health condition,” Fakhrul said.

He questioned as to why the government is not ensuring better treatment for Khaleda despite their party’s repeated demand.

The BNP leader warned that the government will be held responsible if anything bad happens to their chairperson.

He alleged that the government is showing a cruel attitude towards Khaleda and not providing her proper treatment with a ‘heinous’ motive to keep her away from politics. “The government’s such attitude towards a national leader can’t be accepted.”

Earlier, in the afternoon, Khaleda Zia’s sister Selima Islam and her four family members met the BNP chief at old Dhaka central jail at Nazimuddin Road.
