Several hundred garment workers blocked Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue at Tejturibazar in the city on Tuesday morning protesting the closure of their factory without any prior notice.
The workers of Gold Star Design Limited have blocked Farmgate to Karwan Bazar for over 30 minutes halting all vehicular movement in the area during morning rush hours.
Huge traffic congestion was created on both sides of the VIP road and its nearby alleys.
The garment workers alleged that the authorities shut the factory after hanging a notice on the main gate without paying the Eid bonus to the staffs and workers.
Meanwhile, upon request from the law enforcers, the workers left the road around 11:30 am considering public sufferings.
