16 September 2018,Sunday, 22:34

Narayanganj district Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) President Mashiur Rahman Roni reportedly went missing from the capital on Saturday night.

Roni gave a Facebook post on September 10 challenging Awami League MP Shamim Osman to take to the street without using the administration and see what happens next.

His brother Mohibur Rahman Rana alleged that Detective Branch of police picked the JCD leader from Rampura in the capital around 11:30pm.

He said an unidentified person called him over his phone on Saturday night when he told him that a group of 8-9 people identifying them as detectives picked Roni up in a black microbus.

Since then, his mobile phone was found switched off.

Manjur Quader, officer-in-charge of Fatullah Model Police Station, said they did not arrest Roni, an accused in 12 cases.

Meanwhile, city BNP vice-president Advocate Sakhawat Hossain at a press conference in the evening alleged that Roni was ‘kidnapped’ as part of political vengeance.

He demanded that the JCD leader be returned to his family safely.

Roni’s family arranged the press conference where his brother Rana also spoke.
