Two killed in Ctg gas pipeline explosion

At least two children were killed and three others sustained burn injuries in a gas pipeline explosion in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram district on Wednesday.

Three-year-old Tanim and Razia Sultana, 11, who received 80 per cent burn injuries, succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) early Thursday.

Sub-inspector Zahirul Isalm, in-charge of CMCH police camp, said five people including Tanim and Razia received burn injuries in an explosion of supply gas pipeline at a house of one Selim Mia at Aman Bazar in Hathazari upazila on Wednesday.

The injured--Sonia Akter, 26, mother of Tanim and her one-year-old daughter Meem, and Rubi Akter, 15--are undergoing treatment at the burn unit of CMCH.

Nure Alam Mina, superintendent of Chattogram Police, said the gas pipeline was part of the Karnaphuli distribution line.
