Factional clash leaves Jubo League leader killed in Natore

A leader of Awami Jubo League, youth front of ruling Awami League, was killed in a factional clash at Gopalpur Colony in Lalpur upazila of Natore district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased, identified as Jaharul Islam, 30, was organizing secretary of Lalpur Thana unit Jubo League and a resident of the area.

Contacted, additional superintendent of Boraigram circle police Haroon-ur-Rashid said two groups of ruling party locked in a clash in the morning.

He said supports of Lalpur thana Awami League leader Firoz obstructed activists of Jaharul when they reached near North Bengal Sugar Mills, which resulted in a clash between the two groups.

At one stage of the clash, Jaharul sustained serious injuries.

On information, police rushed to the spot and admitted him to Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

A tense situation was prevailing in the area where additional police have been deployed.
