A Dhaka court has set April 9 to hear the charges against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Barapukuria coalmine graft case as she skipped a court appearance today.

The former prime minister was expected to appear in the Dhaka Special Judge's Court-2 today for the hearing.

As the jail authorities failed to produce her before the court, the hearing of the charges in the case was adjourned, said ACC lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajol.

“The senior jail superintendent wrote that the prisoner declined to go to court,” Kajol told reporters, adding that the judge has adjourned the hearing until Apr 9.

BNP chief is now in jail for two other graft cases.
