A man was killed in a ‘gunfight’ between two gangs of ‘drug traders’ at Harabhanga village in Gangni Upazila of Meherpur early Monday.

The deceased Budu Ali, 30, son of late Zoyad Ali, and a resident of Pirtola village, was accused in several drugs-related cases, police said.

On hearing gunshots a team from Pirtola police camp went to the spot, said Harendra Nath Sarker, officer-in-charge of Gangni Police Station.

“Police rescued Budu, wounded in the gunfight, and took him to Gangni Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead,” Sarker said.

The OC said one kilogram of hemp, 20 bottle of phensedyl and a one-shooter gun were seized from the spot.
