Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has suspended operations of the buses of two companies---- Suprobhat and Jabal-e-Noor—in the capital until further notice.

BRTA Deputy Director (Engineering) Shofiquzzaman Bhuiyan said two companies were apprised of authority’s decision in two separate letters on Wednesday.

Both companies have been asked to submit all necessary documents of their vehicles, including fitness certificates, within three working days.

“After checking their documents further decision will be taken,” he added.

A bus of Suprobhat Paribahan ran over Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury in front Bashundhara Gate in the city’s Kuril area on Tuesday, sparking a massive protest by students in the capital.

On July 29 last year, buses belonging to Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan killed two college students on Airport Road in the city.
