Covid-19: Bangladesh witnesses spike with 3,163 new cases; 33 more deaths

Coronavirus death toll in Bangladesh mounted to 2,424 on Tuesday with 33 new fatalities in the last 24 hours.

Besides, 3,163 fresh cases were reported during the period, pushing the total cases to 190,057.

Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure at its daily health bulletin.

The Health authorities also reported recovery of 4,910 patients during the period, taking the total recoveries to 103227.

So far over 13 million confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported globally, with over 570,000 fatalities and more than 7.2 million recoveries, according to the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University.

Coronavirus cases were first reported in China in December last year.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
