Child murdered after ‘rape’ in Natore

A child was killed, reportedly after she was raped, at Garfa village of Boraigram upazila in the early hours of Monday.

The deceased was identified as Halima Khatun, 12, daughter of Hasen Ali of the village.

Her family members and Union Parishad member Antadul Islam said two local youths called the girl out on Sunday evening from her house.

Fishermen contacted police after seeing her body hanging from a tree in the Beel (wetland) at night. Police recovered the body around midnight.

Her mother Momena said Halima was murdered after rape.

Dilip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Boraigram Police Station, said there was blood in the victim’s genital.

The body has been sent to a hospital for autopsy.
