Minor fire reported at PM office and residence complex

A fire has broken out inside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residential-office complex, located at Lok Kalyan Marg (formerly known as Race Course Road) in New Delhi, reports the India Today.

The fire department received the call at 07:25 pm (GMT 1:55 PM). Nine fire tenders were rushed to the spot, which were able to douse the blaze within half an hour by 07:55 pm.

The source of the fire was an inverter, the report added.

However, there are no reports of any injuries or property damage so far.

"There was a minor fire at 9, Lok Kalyan Marg caused by a short circuit. This was not in PM’s residential or office area but in the SPG reception area of the LKM complex," PM Office's official Twitter handle tweeted.

"The fire is very much under control now," it said.

PM's residence-cum-office and security spread across five bungalows 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9, including 5, Lok Kalyan Marg, the Private Residential Zone for the Prime Minister, though he operates from 7, Lok Kalyan Marg.

Meanwhile, the NDTV report said that a minor fire that broke out near Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence in Delhi this evening was brought under control by security officials.

The report added that the fire that was reported around 7:20 pm, was due to a short circuit.
