Representatives of minority communities today (Monday) slammed Priya Saha for her derogatory statement before US President Donald Trump, claiming that 37 million minority people in Bangladesh have been disappeared.

Leaders of Hindu Religious Welfare Trust, Buddhist Religious Welfare Trust and Christian Religious Welfare Trust at a press conference in Dhaka termed her statement on oppression of minorities in Bangladesh and disappearance of such a huge number of minorities as “false and purposeful”.

“Seeking justice from a foreign country over a domestic issue is also unacceptable,” they said.

While meeting US President Donald Trump at White House on Thursday (18 July), Priya Saha, one of the organising secretaries of Bangladesh Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Oikya Parishad, said 37 million followers of Hindu, Buddhism and Christianity disappeared from Bangladesh.

During the meeting with the US president, Priya also told that her land had been grabbed by Muslim fundamentalists and sought his help so that Hindu, Buddhist and Christian people could live in Bangladesh.

Saha also participated in the Second Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom held at the US Department of State in Washington, DC on July 16-18.

Delegates from 106 countries, including about 40 foreign ministers, attended the meeting at the invitation of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen also took part in the event.
