The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad has ousted its Organizing Secretary Priya Saha for her "anti-disciplinary activities."

This decision came on Monday amid a public outcry over her remarks on alleged oppression on minority communities including Hindu, Buddhist and Christian in Bangladesh to US President Donald Trump.

The council’s General Secretary Rana Dasgupta has confirmed the matter.

The decision came from a meeting of the organization's standing committee presided over by its President Nim Chandra Bhaumik, he said.

“She has been temporarily ousted for breaching discipline,” Dasgupta said before adding that Saha’s recent remarks prompted the move.

More details will be provided in a press briefing on Wednesday, he added.

Priya Saha, a Bangladeshi national, participated in the Second Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom held at the US Department of State in Washington DC from July 16-18.

Delegates from 106 countries, including about 40 foreign ministers, took part in the meeting at the invitation of Mike Pompeo, the US secretary of state.

Priya Saha, one of the organizing secretaries of Bangladesh the Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Oikya Parishad, was seen telling US President Donald Trump, that 37 million Hindus, Buddhists and Christians had disappeared from the country, persecuted at the hands of fundamentalist Muslims groups, who enjoyed political support.

The video clipping went on viral in social media, triggering huge outcry among Bangladeshi people.

Saha also told Trump that her land has been grabbed by Muslim fundamentalists and sought his help so that Hindu, Buddhist and Christian people can live in Bangladesh.

Later, in a video message, Priya Saha defended her stand by tagging Abul Barkat's research findings.

In the video message, Priya Saha claimed that she was a co-researcher of Barkat and she got the statistics from the research work.

She also claimed that she was inspired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to spread the information of minority oppression in Bangladesh as did by Hasina in 2001 when she was the then opposition leader.
