Ershad’s younger brother Quader confirmed the matter during a conference at Motijheel.

After a visit to CMH on Wednesday morning, Quader said that Ershad’s health condition is not good.

“Ershad is under close surveillance at the hospital’s CCU,” he said, adding that all want to know how the party will run after his [Ershad's] demise.

"I say, the party will run following the path showed by our party chief, to establish democracy in the country," Quader added.

Referring to Ershad’s high personality and strong position in party he added: "It was easier for us to achieve something by his name. But if something happens, we need to achieve everything on our own."

A few months earlier, Ershad was flown to Singapore for treatment. After he returned, his treatment continued at CMH, said Quader.

While he was undergoing treatment in Singapore, he had been suffering from liver failure and hemoglobin anomaly, said his relatives and party members.
