No body organs of Ershad functioning properly: GM Quader

None of any body organ of former dictator and current Jatiya Party (JaPa) chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad is functioning properly.

“Any body organ of Ershad is functioning normally. Kidney and Liver are not working till now. Those are kept active artificially. However, the level of infection in the blood has been reduced,” party’s acting chairman GM Quader told media on Friday.

Quader, also Ershad’s younger brother, was speaking at a press briefing arranged to inform media about Ershad’s current health condition at JaPa's Banani headquarters around 11am on Friday.

Quader was citing the doctors of Combined Military Hospital (CMH), where Ershad is currently undergoing treatment.

He added the infection in Ershad's body is more contained now. Doctors are removing blood clots from his body through dialysis and the condition of his liver has deteriorated. Moreover, he is being injected with various components of blood as required.

Responding to queries from journalists, GM Quader said Ershad is receiving treatment under the consultations of specialist doctors from Singapore. Besides, Ershad was not taken to hospital abroad on their advice.

Expressing his satisfaction over the treatment that Ershad has been receiving at CMH, he said he would have been given the same medical care in Singapore as he is receiving here.

The former military strongman was admitted to CMH in Dhaka on June 26, as he has been suffering from various health-related issues over the last nine months.
