Coronavirus: Agrani, Islami banks in Kurigram put under lockdown

The local administration has put the Kurigram Agrani Bank Limited and Islami Bank Limited under lockdown from Sunday morning following the increase in numbers of COVID-19 infection among the employees.

Kurigram sadar upazila nirbahi officer Mohammad Moynul Islam said seven employees and staffs of Kurigram branch Islami Bank Limited have been detected with coronavirus. Samples of five more employees were collected recently, reports UNB.

Besides, five employees of Kurigram Agrani Bank were also found infected with the virus, forcing the local administration to put the two banks under lockdown, said UNO, also the president of the Upazila COVID-19 Infection Prevention committee.

The banks will remain closed until further notice.
