India ask Bangladesh to bowl first

Sabbir replaces Mahmudullah
-

Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bat first against Bangladesh in their ICC World Cup match at Edgbaston on Tuesday.

Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad failed to make to the playing XI due to a calf muscle injury that he sustained during the last match against Afghanistan.

Sabbir Rahman, the right-handed batsman, came to replace Mahmudullah. Bangladesh made another change bringing Rubel Hossain in the place of Mehidy Hasna Miraz.

India need just one more point to secure a place in the semifinals of the ongoing World Cup in England and Wales.

Before coming to this match, Bangladesh played seven matches and won three of them while the other match was washed out due to rain. The Tigers endured losses in the other three.

India, on the other hand, played seven matches so far and won five of them. However, they suffered a setback in the last game against the hosts at the same venue.

Bangladesh (Playing XI): Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim(w), Liton Das, Mosaddek Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mashrafe Mortaza(c), Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman

India (Playing XI): Lokesh Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli(c), Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni(w), Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah.
