Aggrieved leaders of recently dissolved committee of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) have postponed their demonstration for today.

JCD vice president Iktiar Rahman Kabir, who was sacked a couple of days back, made the announcement around 12:50 pm.

While talking to reporters in front of BNP central office, Kabir reiterated their agitation will continue until their demands-- withdrawal of age limit, expulsion order against their 12 leaders and announcement of fresh schedule—were met.

“We are postponing our agitation for today. Again we will resume our protest if our demands were not fulfilled,” he told reporters.

Earlier in the morning, another group chanted slogans in front of BNP office welcoming the council but around 12 pm the activists who are on agitation demanding withdrawal of age limit chased them and banged the gate of the party office.

The BNP had dissolved the expired committee of Chhatra Dal on June 3 and imposed the condition for prospective candidates to have passed the SSC exam after 2000 for the candidacy in the council election.

A section of the organization has been staging protests since June 10 to mount pressure on the party to scrap the age limit for candidacy.
