3G, 4G services suspended in Rohingya camp areas

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) suspended 3G and 4G services in Rohingya camp areas in Teknaf and Ukhiya for an indefinite period.
“The services were suspended on Tuesday,” BTRC Senior Assistant Director Zakir Hossain told UNB. “It will remain effective until further notice.”
He said mobile operators were earlier directed to suspend 3G and 4G services between 5pm and 6am every day in Cox's Bazar Rohingya camps.
The BTRC on Monday night ordered mobile operators to suspend 3G and 4G data services in the area.
Bangladesh is currently hosting more than a million Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar camps.
