Abrar's roommate Mizan put on 5-day remand

A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed slain Abrar Fahad’s roommate, also a suspect in his murder case, on a five-day remand.

Mizanur Rahman Mizan, a third-year student of Water Resources Engineering Department of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) is a suspect in the murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah passed the remand order when investigation officer of Detective Branch Md Wahiduzzaman sought a 7-day remand for his interrogation.

Mizan was arrested by law enforcers from his dormitory on October 10.

Abrar Fahad, 21, a second-year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Buet, was beaten to death reportedly by Buet unit’s Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university.

He was found dead on the staircase of the hall in the early hours of October 7, after he was taken to the room No-2011 around 8pm on October 6 and beaten up mercilessly.

So far, a total of 21 people have been arrested in the case and among them eight already confessed before the court to their involvement in the murder.
