Police arrest 6 in city for 'spreading rumours' over coronavirus

Police arrested six people from different parts of the city for 'spreading rumours' over coronavirus trough distributing leaflets on Saturday night.
The arrestees are Awkat Hossain, 53, Ferdous Hasan Titu, 25, Tauhidul Islam, 25, Muslim Uddin, 23, Mafizul Islam, 20 and Farid Hossain, 53, reports UNB.
Tipped off, a team of DMP conducted a drive in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital iand arrested a man while distributing leaflets inscribing ‘Coronavirus is not a cause of fear for Muslims rather it is a punishment for the kafirs’, said senior assistant commissioner of Ramna zone SM Shamim.
After interrogation, police arrested five others from Mouchak area with the same leaflets, he said.
Two separate cases were filed in this connection.
Police also seized a pick-up van from their possession.
The gang was involved in distributing leaflets using 32 pick-up vans in different parts of the city, said SM Shamim.
