5 more coronavirus patients detected in Bangladesh

Bangladesh on Friday announced the detection of five new coronavirus patients, raising the number of such cases in the country to 61.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque disclosed the figures at an online press briefing on Friday, UNB reports.

"The total number of coronavirus cases is now 61. Five more people have been diagnosed with COVID-19. The good news is no new patient has died and 26 people have made recovery," he said.

The minister urged everyone to stay indoors and comply with the directives of Prime MInister Sheikh Hasina.

Bangladesh has so far reported six deaths from coronavrius.

It has so far infected 1,015,466 people around the world, according to worldometer.

Of them, 750,047 are currently being treated with 37,696 being in serious or critical condition.The global death toll from coronavirus jumped to 53,190 on Friday.

Coronavirus, first reported in China in December last year, is affecting 200 countries and territories around the world and two international cruise ships.

The World Health Organization on March 11 declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic.
