Quader visits Ershad at ICU

Ruling Awami League Party General Secretary Obaidul Quader visited former president HM Ershad at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on Monday morning.

Obaidul, also the road, transport and bridges minister, paid the courtesy call to the former military dictator who was admitted to the CMH Wednesday morning.

Ershad has been suffering from multiple ailments for the last nine months and received treatment from abroad.

Ershad’s Personal Secretary Abdur Rahim confirmed the report.

At Ershad’s bedside were Jatiya Party acting chairman GM Quader and General Secretary Moshiur Rahman Ranga among various top leaders.

GM Quader said that Ershad’s condition was showing signs of improvement. The acting chairman briefed the media at the party chairman’s Banani office on Monday.

Ershad is still being given oxygen support due to his respiratory conditions. He has severe infections in his lungs and kidneys.

Ershad served as the 10th President of Bangladesh from 1983 to 1990. He is the founder of the Jatiyo Party, currently the second-largest party in the Jatiyo Sangshad, also known as loyal opposition in the parliament.
