Coronavirus: 8 Rohingyas among 36 fresh test positive in Cox’s Bazar

A total of 36 people, including eight Rohingyas, were diagnosed with coronavirus in Cox’s Bazar district on Friday.

With the latest ones, the number of covid-19 patients in the district reached 304, reports UNB.

Dr Anupam Barua, principal of Cox’s Bazar Medical College, confirmed the development, saying they tested 174 samples and found 28 of them to be infected with the virus.

Meanwhile, Dr Abu Toha, co-ordinator at Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner’s office, said eight Rohingya men tested positive for covid-19 on the day.

A total of 21 Rohingyas have so far been identified with the virus, he said, adding that they are being treated at isolation centress.

Bangladesh witnessed the highest number of deaths in a day due to coronavirus on Friday as record 24 more people died from the virus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the death tally to 432.

During the period, further surge in coronavirus cases was recorded as 1,694 new patients tested positive, raising the total cases to 30,205, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in their regular online briefing.
