Bangladesh recorded their first-ever win against India in the shortest format of the game on Sunday. Tigers overpowered India by seven wickets in Delhi in the first of three-match T20 series.

Test and T20I captain Shakib al Hasan was supposed to lead the Tigers in the India T20Is but was later replaced in the squad by left-arm spinner Taijul Islam with Mahmudullah named captain in Shakib’s stead.

Shafiul Islam strikes in the first over as Rohit Sharma has been adjudged lbw during their first T20I at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi Sunday.

Earlier, Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah has won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Mohammad Naim makes his debut for Bangladesh. Naim is a tall left-handed opening batsman who was the second highest run-getter in the 2019 Dhaka Premier League.

Test and T20I captain Shakib al Hasan was supposed to lead the Tigers in the India T20Is but was later replaced in the squad by left-arm spinner Taijul Islam with Mahmudullah named captain in Shakib’s stead.

Tigers star all-rounder Shakib was banned by the International Cricket Council Tuesday for two years, with one year of that suspended, for failing to report three corrupt approaches by a listed bookie to take part in illegal activities.

The Tigers will also miss the services of opening batsman Tamim Iqbal and all-rounder Saifuddin, who were replaced by Mohammad Mithun and Abu Haider Rony respectively.
