A female singer allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Kashimnagar area in Khulna on Sunday.
Police said the singer Farhana Yasmin, 36, who was a divorcee, had been living with one of her female friends in a rented house in the area of Khulna city.
Farhana was an enlisted Rabindra Sangeet singer of Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television. She was also a teacher of Dumuria Model Government Primary School.
Her friend informed police after she found Farhana hanging from the ceiling fan in her room.
Police went to the spot and recovered the body around 2:00pm after breaking open the door.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, Humayun Kabir, said the body was sent to Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
