35 stranded Bangladeshis return from India

As many as 35 stranded Bangladeshi nationals returned from India on Saturday morning. They entered into the home country from northwestern Benapole border line.

Out of the returnees five have been sent to institutional quarantine while the rest to home quarantine, citing a health official a local English daily reported.

The Bangladeshi nationals got stranded in different parts in India including West Bengal due to the country's 21-day lockdown over the outbreak of coronavirus.

Among the returnees, five with high temperature were sent to quarantine ward at Jashore General Hospital, said Dr Zahidul Islam, a health official of Benapole Immigration Office.   

The rest were sent to home quarantine for 14 days, he said.

They have been marked with stamps bearing the date till which they will have to stay under home quarantine, said Ahsan Habib, officer-in-charge of Benapole immigration.

India began the 21-day nationwide lockdown from March 25 to stop the spread of coronavirus.
