The seventh session of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) will begin at 5:00pm on April 18.

President M Abdul Hamid summoned the session exercising the power bestowed upon him as per Clause (1) of Article 72 of the constitution.

“The parliament session will begin at 5:00pm on April 18 (Saturday),” President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told BSS this afternoon.

The JS business advisory committee, with JS Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair, will fix the duration of the upcoming session, he added.

Meanwhile, a source of the parliament secretariat told BSS that the duration of the seventh session is likely to be a short one due to the outbreak of fatal COVID-19 (Coronvirus) and some special measures were also taken to avert any sorts of gatherings as precautionary measures as well.

“The last session was prorogued on February 18. The upcoming session is being held due to the obligation of holding the JS session within the gap of 60-day between its two consecutive sessions,” the source added.
