At least 10 people have been killed while 25 others wounded in separate road accidents in three districts including Dhaka, Bogra and Faridpur.

In Dhaka, a man has been killed after getting hit by a motorbike in Trimohoni Bridge area of Khilgaon around 10am on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Md Sultan, 50, son of Badiuzzaman of Kandar Chargram village under Islampur upazila in Jamalpur.

He was a day labourer and used to live with his family in a rented apartment in Dhaka's Sabujbagh area.

According to police information, the incident took place when Sultan was hit by a motorbike during crossing the road.

Severely injured Sultan was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he later succumbed to his injuries.

In Faridpur, eight people have been killed and 20 others injured after a Gopalganj-bound bus plunged into a river in Dhuldi area in Sadar upazila.

The accident took place around 2:30pm on the Dhaka-Faridpur highway on Saturday, United News Bangladesh news agency confirmed quoting Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) FM Nasim as saying.

However, the identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. But one of the dead has been identified as Bus supervisor.

OC Nasim said the bus hit the bridge’s railing before falling into the river, which killed five people on the spot.

The injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where three died, he said.

Locals assisted the fire service and police personnel in their rescue bid.

In Bogra, An army sergeant was killed, and five others injured, when a bus overturned in Bogra's Shibganj upazila.

The incident occurred on the Rangpur-Bogura highway in Rahobol area around 7:30am on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Abdul Aziz, 36, son of Nurul Huda, who hailed from Char Jangalia village of Kamalnagar upazila of Lakshmipur district. He was posted in Bandarban cantonment.

Gobindaganj highway police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mokhlesur Rahman said the accident occurred when the driver of a Rangpur-bound passenger bus from Chittagong lost control over the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to turn over and fall into a roadside ditch. The accident left the Army sergeant dead on the spot. 

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex. Police have seized the bus and case has been filed with Shibganj police station.

Officials of Bogra cantonment took Aziz's body to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
