Eden college student among 2 girls died of dengue

Two girls, including a student of Eden Women College, died of dengue viral fever in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka on Sunday.

Fatema Akater Shanta, 20, breathed her last at Japan-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital in Dhaka around 4:50pm, according to hospital sources.

She was a second-year student of Accounting Department of Eden Women College, hospital record confirmed.

Shanta was diagnosed with dengue fever seven days ago and staying at her residence after her condition was improved.

On Sunday, she was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital as her condition deteriorated suddenly, according to family source.

Besides, a young girl died of dengue fever during treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital Sunday afternoon.

The girl has been identified as Dipali Akhter, 23, who was hailed from Monohardi upazila of Narsingdi. She was admitted to the hospital three days earlier after she was diagnosed with dengue fever.
