Road crashes kill 3 in Dhaka

Three people were killed in separate road accidents that took place in the capital's Asad Gate, Demra and Pallabi areas on Sunday.

The victims include two pedestrians while another one was a motorcyclist.

Quoting witnesses, police said the accident occurred at Asad Gate around 11:30 pm when a speedy truck coming from Manik Miah Avenue rammed into a motorcycle around.

After the motorcycle rider fell on the street, the truck ran over him. The victim could not be identified immediately.

Incensed by the accident, people seized and vandalised the truck and handed the driver over to the police.

The body of the victim was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue for autopsy.

At Demra, CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit a pedestrian in front of Tamirul Millat Madrasa of Demra around 1:00pm, leaving an aged man named Abu Hanif Master, 65, critically injured.

He is a resident of Islambagh under Demra police station.

Hanif was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at around 5:00pm, victim's son, Ahmed Istiak, said.

In Pallabi, A man was killed after being hit by a private car.

The deceased was identified as Amin, 30, son of late Abdul Khaleque of Bouniabadh under Pallabi police station.

Quoting witnesses, police said a speedy private car hit Amin while he was crossing road in Jhutpattai area of Mirpur-10 around 10.30 am, leaving him critically injured.

After receiving information, police rushed to the spot and took the injured to Dhaka Medical College & Hospital where Amin succumbed to his injuries at around 12:15 pm, said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police camp.

The body was sent to the DMCH morgue for autopsy.
