After a solid start of 60 runs by openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar, Bangladeshi batsmen are leading the team to a big total in their first game in the ICC Men’s World Cup on Sunday against South Africa at the Kennington Oval, London, UNB reports.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim hit the fifties along the way. At the end of 29 overs, Bangladesh were 182 for two.

The tigers have completed the 100-run mark in 16 over. Before that, Tamim and Soumya added 60 runs in the first wicket stand. Tamim was the first man to fall for 16. After his dismissal, Soumya was going fast.

However, he could not do it for a long time. He fell for 42 off 30 with nine fours. Andile Phehlukwayo and Chris Morris were the haunter of the openers.

After that, Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim made a formidable stand in the third wicket partnership.

Along the way, Shakib hit his 43rd ODI fifty in the 26th over and it was his sixth fifty in the world Cup. Following Shakib’s fifty, Mushfiqur also hit his 34th ODI fifty and which was his fifth in World Cups.

Back in 2007, both of Shakib and Mushfiqur hit the fifties in the World Cup at the Port of Spain to eliminate India from the showpiece event as well.
